Hi

It depends.

If you have a fully functioning F11 recovery system then YES.

If you have a faulty Hard Drive with a damaged recovery area, maybe not.

So now is the time to deploy the Recovery DVD/USB you made.

You could try a Diagnostic on the HDD ESC and F2 I think.

If in doubt please ask.

Hi @Frank137

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

If you press F11, then the system acknowledges this by showing a message about it, then the only reason for doing nothing is:

- HDD/SSD corruption - the storage is not ok

- the recovery partition is not working or is corrupted/gone

Perform some basic hardware checks to rule out hardware problem

- Please, shutdown the computer using the power button (pressed and hold for a few seconds until PC powers off)

- Power the computer back on.

As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap) before any logo appears. This should open a HP Startup Menu

- Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test or Run-in test.

This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA

If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD (hard disk drive) and RAM check (memory check).

Let me know the test results. If the tests pass without issues, continue. If not, please, let me know

Please, answer these questions and provide details

What operating system you need to recover ? Have you ever installed Windows 10 on this computer ?

Could you post your PC model and product number as described here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
