I tried the downloaded Win 7 driver and it refused to install into a Win 10 system on the HP Elitebook 2740p with that Intel 82577LM network adapter.  Message said incorrect operating system.

The 82579LM driver also refused to install,  no adapter found.

My only solution for ethernet connection so far is a USB to ethernet adapter.  But that abandons the Gigabit port and uses up a USB port.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this works...

If you did not delete the sp53806 driver folder from the C:\SWSetup folder, go to the device manager.

Click on the ethernet controller device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver.

That folder will be located in the above directory I posted.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

If not, try this...

When you get to the Browse my computer for driver software window, at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Click on Have Disk and browse to C:\SWSetup\sp53806\flat\WIN7x64\E1K62x64 (setup information file), click Next and see if the driver installs that way.

You may have to select the exact network adapter ID your notebook has from the list...

E10EANC.DeviceDesc = "Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection"
E10EBNC.DeviceDesc = "Intel(R) 82577LC Gigabit Network Connection"

No such folder for drivers still in the Windows 10 HP laptop.  This is an ebay used machine with 3rd party install of OEM version Windows 10, never a sign of any Windows 7 stuff left in it.  Cannot find any reference to that number sp53806 folder anywhere on Internet.  I have a real Winodows 7 Pro upgrade install DVD from Microsoft, but have not tried that yet. Have to put that on a flash drive stick to get it in.

Downloads of Windows 10 do not support the 82577LM that I have, oldest is the 82579 series.  If run, cannot find hardware.  Windows 7 legacy 64 bit driver for the 82577LM network adapter either fails to install (wrong operating system message).

So far, nothing has worked.
