Edit: Drivers for HP laptop model 15-BW011DX for Windows 7

Hello and thank you for all of your help on this matter.

@Paul_TikkanenI am going through the same process as the original poster- I will not use Windows 10 until I'm forced to, so I'm struggling with getting the Windows 7 drivers for this laptop. In your first useful post, the two links for graphics and chipset drivers no longer functions. Instead, AMD is redirecting to their software downloads page. I am not sure what products is appropriate to get the right drivers. I ended up typing A6-9220 and downloading the Windows 7 Auto Detect and Install .EXE. Would you say this is appropriate? Will this handle graphics and chipset?

Also, sorry to do this to you, but all of your realtek links are broken as well.

Thanks again!

You're very welcome.

Both AMD and Realtek recently changed their websites, which is why none of the links work.

It is usually best to start a new topic on this forum, rather than posting to old info, including the full model number or product number of the PC, what you need help on, etc.

We have the opposite view that many forums take...that this info has been presented a gazillion times, do a search.

We want to customize our responses based on individual needs, and provide up to date info, rather than new members experiencing frustration with old links that don't work, or outdated drivers.

In any event, here are the links to some of the W7 x 64 drivers you should need for a platform with the A6-9220 APU.

Please let me know the model/product information regarding your notebook, and I will try and give you the rest.

Chipset:  Will install the motherboard and USB 3 drivers.  Install and restart the PC.  3rd one on the page...W10/W7 64 bit.

Graphics:  W7 x64 driver...1st one on the page.

Audio:  Accept the agreement.  Download and install the 64 bit driver and restart the PC.

Ethernet:  Download unzip and run the setup application from the W7 driver at the link below...

Wonderful! Blown away by the promptness and professionalism of your response. It is exactly the same model as the original poster.

15-BW011DX

I intend to install Windows 7 Ultimate as the only operating system on the original 500GB harddrive after running a Darek's Boot and Nuke on the original installed OS.

OK, based on the info you provided, here are the links to the remaining drivers you need...

Touchpad:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81891.exe

Wifi:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp88501-89000/sp88574.exe

Bluetooth:

If you need additional drivers, please post the hardware ID's for any devices still needing drivers.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

I've hit a roadblock. First of all, the ethernet driver you linked me to didn't work. I got an error message asking if I'd finished the previous installation. I looked into the hardware ID and got this:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_80C3103C&REV_15

I googled it and found my way to the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller driver. Downloaded, installed, Ethernet controller is now working.

Next is the real problem: Unknown Device. Hardware ID:

ACPI\MSFT0101

Google isn't getting me anywhere. Actually, it led me back to you in another thread that didn't really tell me what this thingy is.

Finally, after installing all of your recommended drivers, I have an alert on the AMD High Definition Audio Device.

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

So I have two issues. The unknown device and the weird driver issue on the AMD HD Audio.

Hi:

I'm surprised the driver I posted for the ethernet didn't work.  Glad you were able to get it to work finally.

The ACPI\MSFT0101...that is an obscure one for which I have attached two possibilities to get it to work, below.

Run the first one first (the hotfix)..That is from Microsoft.  Usually it works, but some folks said it wouldn't on their machines.

If the first one doesn't work, try the second one I attached.  That is just the raw driver file.

For the 2nd one, you have to manually install the driver.  Unzip the file to its folder.

Go to the device manager, click on the ACPI\MSFT0101 device needing the driver.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the unzipped driver folder.   Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and hopefully the driver will install.

The AMD High Definition Audio Device...try the ATI HDMI audio device driver directly from Realtek on the audio link I posted above.  It is the last one from the bottom.

Hotfix resulted in "Not applicable to your computer."

I was able to do the manual update of the driver, though Windows is complaining about it being an unsigned driver. What is the "Trusted Platform Module"? What does it do?

I tried running an automatic driver update on the AMD HD audio device and it said I already had the best driver for it. *shrug*. If the device is working I couldn't care less about the signature of the driver.
