Paul, I am desperate to find Windows 7 USB drivers for a HP Pavilion 17, model number 17-e037cl. Windows Update can't find anything and no Windows 7 drivers for my model are provided on the HP website.
Please help! Thank you for any direction you may be able to provide.

Thank you so much for the help! You totally saved my butt in a time crunch. I now have one USB port working after updating the chipset driver to the correct one, but my USB 3 ports are still not working.
Device Mgr still has exclamation marks next to SM Bus Controller, USB, and Unknown...... Windows Update can't find drivers for any of them. My laptop did originally come with Windows 8 and I downgraded to Windows 7, so the HP site doesn't have the Windows 7 drivers listed for my 17-e037cl.
Any ideas?

You're very welcome.
That driver should have installed all of the USB ports as well as the smbus controller.
So...see if this works instead.
For the USB3, download and install both of these drivers and restart the PC.
This package provides the AMD USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The driver enables USB 3.0 devices.

AMD USB Filter Driver is a USB upper-class filter driver for the AMD chipsets. The AMD USB Filter Driver provides power management and performance optimizations on supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

I have zipped up and attached the smbus controller driver below.
Download and unzip the file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager, click on the smbus controller needing the driver. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzippeed.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
The unknown device...windows names several devices as unknown, so I need some more info from you.
Please post the hardware ID for the unknown device so I can figure out what driver it needs.
Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Do you need the graphics driver?
You do, if you click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category, and you see a Standard VGA Adapter listed there.

You're very welcome.
Yes, the graphics is fine.
Here is the driver you need for the 6007 device...
This package provides the HP 3D DriveGuard Software for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The HP 3D DriveGuard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.

If you haven't done so already, you can use the W8 touchpad driver from your notebook's support page. It also contains the W7 driver files.
