hi Paul,

 

Very similar issue i have, where i removed licensed windows8.1 and installed some windows7 without license. so how can i get back the licensed windows 8.1. can you please guide me, i dont have product key.

Hi:

 

If your notebook originally came with W8.1 from HP,  you can download the ISO file from the link below.

 

Select the plain W8.1 download.

 

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8ISO

 

You shouldn't need to enter a product key, as it will be automatically picked up in the BIOS by Windows.

 

If it asks you for a product key, then your notebook must have come with W8.1 Single Language.

 

Go back and download the W8.1 Single Language ISO file instead, and that should work.

 

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a DVD or USB flash drive so that it is bootable.
