Hi,

No, you do not need the recovery drive as there are many options to reinstall the OS (as you have done with clean install)

You could install HP support assistant whic can help with the drivers and more

https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html

However, you do not need to install any HP software for the correct functioning of the PC. Here you can also find drivers and softwareif you need it

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-ab000-notebook-pc-series/7771366/model/7919380/p...

I would recommend you replace the 2.5" HDD with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD such as the Samsung 860 Evo which would give a great boost to the everyday performance of the notebook.

Hope it helps,

David

Thanks for reply so quickly. I had one qus regarding ssd as recommendation  cant i use both of them like one in place of dvd writer. Using caddy install fresh in ssd and use hdd as additional storage?

HP Recommended

Yes it is possible. You should place the old HDD in the caddy and install the SSD where the HDD is at the moment. Then you can perform a clean install of the OS on the SSD.

It will give a great performance  boost.

David
