recovery bios

Hi

I have an exactly similar issue with my HP DV6 3140 SA laptop. I was updating the bios when the keyboard and mouse froze. After a force restart, the laptop display won't turn on. No beeps, mute and wifi keys turn on orange. I tried to recover bios using HP guidance using a USB stick but no avail. Then I came across your post and downloaded and installed 4 in 1 key, on USB, but still with no luck.  I learned from 4 in 1 key documentation that my laptop DV6  is supported for bios recovery using that software.

My laptop was working perfectly fine before that bios update attempt.

Any ideas to get my system up again will be highly appreciated

First off, your post was split off by a Moderator into its own thread because you tacked you post onto someone else's thread.  So basically, we have no history readily available in your post.

Second, WHY are you trying to force a BIOS update?  Your model PC, as best I can tell, came out YEARS ago with Win7 on it, and HP has not produced BIOS updates for these PCs for over 5 years!

Third, BIOS updates are OS-version specific, and the last one I saw for the DV6 product line was for Win7, not for Win10. If you are running Win10 and forced this update, that probably corrupted your BIOS as a result.

thanks for your reply (a bit apprehending though!). My laptop has windows 7 installed. It was working perfectly fine lately, but I noticed that its fan got a bit noisy. I wondered if the bios update could fix this issue ( already cleaned the fan assembly and applied good heat sink compound to its CPU&GPU)

But now the bios update( using Insyde update utility)  has failed and it doesn't show any startup screen. I followed the HP guidelines to recover bios using USB stick but no luck. It doesn't seem to look for any USB when I restart it by pressing Windows + B key

Any ideas to get my  laptop working again will be appreciated
