Microsoft Windows 11

I updated my laptop to windows 11 and recieved BitLocker recovery screen. I never set up my bitlocker on my Microsoft account. I researched and found that with the update to windows 11 it automatically applied a bitlocker key. I found a fix for the problem but am now receiving an error message while using the HP cloud recovery tool. This is the error message:

c:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AD2F1837.myHP_25.52330.450.0x64__v10z8vjag...\DesktopExtension.exe
File system error (-1069587196)

how can I resolve this issue?

@Mystikalmask, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Run the HP Cloud Recovery Tool as Administrator:

  • Right-click on the HP Cloud Recovery Tool shortcut or executable.
  • Select Run as administrator.
  • This can sometimes bypass permissions-related issues that may prevent proper execution.

Check File System for Errors:

The error code (-1069587196) might indicate a file system issue. You can check and repair your system's file system using Check Disk:

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator:
    • Press Windows key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  • Type the following command and press Enter: chkdsk C: /f /r /x
  • This will check for errors and attempt to fix them. The /r flag checks for bad sectors, and /x forces the drive to unmount before scanning.
  • You may need to restart your computer for the check to take place.

Reinstall the HP Cloud Recovery Tool:

If the tool itself is corrupted, reinstalling might fix the issue:

  • Open Settings > Apps.
  • Scroll down to find HP Cloud Recovery Tool and click on it.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • After uninstalling, go to the HP Cloud Recovery Tool page to download and reinstall the latest version.

Update Windows and HP Software:

Outdated system drivers or software might be causing compatibility issues:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click Check for updates and install any available updates.
  • Additionally, make sure you have the latest HP drivers and updates installed:
    • Visit HP Support and check for updates for your specific HP device model.

Run the Windows System File Checker (SFC):

Running an SFC scan can help detect and repair any corrupted system files:

  • Open Command Prompt as administrator (like in Step 2).
  • Type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow
  • This will scan and fix any corrupted system files. After the scan is complete, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
