Hi @Tonto9

The HP Cloud Recovery message asking you to “enable Intel Smart Response Acceleration” usually appears when the BIOS storage controller is set to a mode the recovery tool does not expect. On many newer HP laptops, there is no ISRT/Smart Response option, so you will not see anything labeled that way in BIOS.

Here are a few things to check:

1. BIOS Storage Controller

On this model, Intel Smart Response is handled automatically when the storage controller is set to Intel RST.

Please check in BIOS under System Configuration → Storage:

  • If you see “SATA Controller Mode”, set it to Intel RST (not AHCI).

  • If your BIOS already shows Intel RST and the option is greyed out, leave it as it is.

After confirming this, try running HP Cloud Recovery again.

2. USB Recovery Drive Not Booting

If your USB recovery or installation media will not start:

• Disable Secure Boot
BIOS → Security → Secure Boot = Disabled

• Enable “Legacy Support” (only if available)
Some models require Legacy Support to boot certain USB installers.

• Recreate the USB drive
Use the official HP Cloud Recovery tool or Windows Media Creation Tool.
Avoid third-party USB creators for HP recovery media.

• Use a different USB port
Prefer a USB 2.0 port if available — some systems will not boot recovery tools from USB 3.0.

• Confirm the USB actually contains bootable media
If possible, test the USB on another PC to verify that it boots.
