Hi All, I have HP OMEN 17-an008ca previously I had an issue with windows boot and recovery one day suddenly it was unable to boot windows tried recovery option couldn't work so I created a bootable usb for new windows not from rufus and tried to boot that usb on UEFI boot mode which was originally working but this time it couldn't boot my usb so I had to change the boot mode from UEFI to legacy and then it worked so I formatted the windows and tried to install new windows but got partition style error so I converted the disk partition style from GPT to MBR and installed fresh windows its working fine until one day I again switched the boot mode from legacy to UEFI nothing happened no media found than again switched it to legacy and restarted the laptop it showed this blue screen press F8 and enter but nothing happened than I powered off and power on this time it booted fine any clue why is this happening Thanks in Advance!

Hi:
You were lucky you were able to get back into Windows after you changed the BIOS mode from Legacy to UEFI and back again.
Here's how this stuff works...
Legacy mode only supports booting from a drive with a MBR partition table.
UEFI mode only supports booting from a drive with a GPT partition table.
Legacy mode cannot support secure boot either, only UEFI mode supports secure boot.
So, when you changed the BIOS setting from Legacy to UEFI, the notebook was looking to boot from a drive with the GPT partition table, couldn't find one and errored out.
So, if you want to go back to UEFI, you will have to reinstall Windows by finding a way to boot your USB installation flash drive from the UEFI USB flash drive.
Normally what I do is to instead of using the Media creation tool to automatically create a USB installer, I download the W10 ISO file instead and use the free Rufus utility to create a bootable UEFI installation flash drive with the ISO file.
Rufus adds some UEFI boot files onto the flash drive.
Set up the Rufus menu exactly as you see it in the example for Windows illustrations.
Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
Go into the BIOS and disable Legacy mode, save the settings.
Restart the notebook, press/tap the ESC key, select the F9 boot options menu.
Select the UEFI USB flash drive with the Windows installation files on it and press the Enter key and the PC should boot from the flash drive and install Windows in UEFI mode.
