Under the storage tab my recovery drive shows that I have 13.2GB of 15GB used. When I click the recovery drie, all of the folders say O byts excepts for three of them. Documents 4.93 bytes, system and reserved 449 bytes, Other 12.8 bytes.  When I click other it says "We couldn't find any folders to show you" However I just purchased this laptop a week ago and I have used it a total of maybe four times. Yes I can log in and everything loads fine. My question is why is majority of my recovery drive being used by unknown files?I downloaded the Adobe CC apps, however I've only used one of the apps and saved three small projects. (I don't know if that is useful information) Also the computer came with 4GB of Ram installed but under the operating system tab, it says that this laptop is expandable to 32GB. How do I expand my ram? I purchased this computer specifcally for graphic design and I need more RAM, I also noticed this like to overheat, does anyone else have that problem? If so what do you do to alleviate  the overheating?

The Recovery drive is full of protected files used to do a System Recovery or fresh install of Windows when/if needed. Also used to reinstall original drivers/software if needed- And to make Recovery Media for your laptop. You shouldn't save anything there or try opening any folders. Open HP Recovery Manager in the start menu programs- it works with the recovery partition and you will see what can be done with it.

Expanding the ram is done by purchasing larger capacity memory sticks and installing them. Purchasing a laptop for graphic design it would have been good to look at ram specs before purchase.

Overheating can be a problem. Depending on how severe you might want to get a laptop cooling pad to use under it when doing grahics intensive tasks.

Ok thanks for your help. I knew that the RAM was low for what I needed the laptop for, but i knew it could be expanded i just wasn't sure how. The over heating isn't severe but i know that over time that's something that could get worse. Is it a software issue that this happens. Or another internal problem?

Sometimes a heat issue will be addressed with a  firmware update -BIOS update. At times newer drivers can also help with heat issues. Either check your Support page manually or run HP Support Assistant to check for updates.
