So I successfully created a Recovery System Backup to my 32GB Flash Drive with HP Recovery Backup. Now, I want to use my flash drive to store my files like photos and videos.

My question is, can I transfer the system backup on my flash drive to my 1TB Portable Hard Drive?

Thanks!

Short answer is No. It won't boot from the external hdd in the event you need to do a Recovery on your laptop. Much cheaper to buy an extra empty flashdrive than to have to buy Recovery flash drive from HP for $49.

Thanks for the response. How about if I used the portable hard drive in the first place as my recovery backup?

It still likely would not be bootable- unless you could coax the laptop into booting from external hdd which is difficult even with an operating system on one. Just saw a poster doing backflips trying to get Linux to boot from external hdd.

Btw, I'm glad you didn't choose it because I have seen posters do that and then scream because it erased the entire hard drive.
