Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

The problem is the comp. says "insufficient system resources..... ". When trying to open a program I have used on this laptop for yrs. So I checked my drives and the D drive pic says its almost full but when I click on it its empty.    What is the Recovery drive D for and how do I work with it.

I can't see into YOUR PC -- so I have to guess -- but in general, the Recovery Drive is a partition on the hard disk that contains a compressed Windows image that is used by the HP Recovery Manager to do a factory reset of your PC.  It is not intended for YOU to use, so you might not see the files in there, but if it is indeed empty, then you will not be able to do a factory reset.

You would have to see if you can use the HP Cloud Recovery option instead.

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.

The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.
