This is to comment on a much older post (https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/quot-Detect-some-error-during-P...) that I encountered this exact issue and the process of solving it. I like older laptops and notebooks even though they are heavier and bulkier....I like the features such as a Blu Ray or DVD drive and a bigger screen such as a 17.3". I bought a refurbished 2013-2014 model HP Envy 17t-j000 with Windows 10 installed but was originally Windows 8. I wanted to still be HP proprietary so I had to order recovery media from a 3rd party site as HP had long discontinued distributing Windows 8 media. There were 3 discs plus one supplemental disc. The process went smoothly until time for system setup after all discs were ran and I got the error "PINNST-BBV" as referenced in the link. I went over everything that the board members had done and I tried but to no avail. I called the 3rd party media distributor and he gave me a piece of advice I had not seen on the discussion boards which I tried and by itself did not 100% work but did help progress to solving the problem. Since we are 8 or 9 years out now I did what they said. I accessed the system BIOS by tapping F10 at startup before letting system boot to windows. In "MAIN" system information and found BORN ON DATE and changed SYSTEM DATE to match BORN ON DATE and then set BOOT ORDER from SYSTEM CONFIGURATION screen to boot from recovery discs and in my case I was using an external Blu Ray drive through a USB port as the system was not recognizing the internal Blu Ray drive for some reason and earlier in the process I had enabled LEGACY SUPPORT and disabled SECURE BOOT, saved my settings then exited the BIOS then restarted the laptop and all went well until the system restarted to setup process and that's when it throws the error code. So I went back to the BIOS settings and disabled LEGACY SUPPORT and enabled SECURE BOOT, saved my settings and restarted the process again and ran all discs including the supplement disc except this time when the supplement disc finished the "Copied Files To Hard Drive" and gives the 300 second or 5 minute countdown, on restart I clicked the ESC button to bring up Startup Menu. From there I chose F11 System Recovery and ran the process from there to completion and this time it ran the setup process perfectly and I am back to Windows 8. This was definitely a hybrid process that worked for me and I took several pieces of advice and I hope it works for anyone else in this situation. Now my problem is Windows activation as the refurbisher's ran a Microsoft Windows 10 disc instead of an HP proprietary set which disabled the original Windows 8 Product I.D. number and I want to upgrade the edition to Pro 8.1 once activation is completed. I know there are several ways to try to activate but it's been a long time since Windows 8 was originally circulated. I hope I can get activated. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You
