I am looking for a recovery image for my HP laptop. I can't get the restore point or full system restore to work. It has a DVD drive in it and USB ports.

Hi @dham4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to access restore points or perform a full system restore, obtaining a recovery image of your HP laptop can help you revert the system to its factory settings. Here’s how you can proceed.

HP Cloud Recovery Tool:

  • Visit the HP Cloud Recovery Tool page to download the tool. This utility allows you to create a recovery USB drive using another working computer with internet access.

Create a USB Recovery Drive:

  • Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to download and create a recovery image on a USB drive. Ensure that the USB drive has at least 32 GB of available space.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the tool to complete the creation of the recovery media.

Using the Recovery USB Drive:

  • Insert the USB recovery drive into a USB port on your HP laptop.
  • Power on the laptop and repeatedly press the F9 key to access the Boot Menu.
  • Select the USB drive as the boot option and follow the on-screen instructions to perform a system recovery.

Using a DVD Recovery Media (if applicable):

  • If you prefer using a DVD and your laptop has a DVD drive, you may contact HP support to order a physical recovery media DVD set if available for your model.
  • Insert the recovery DVD into the drive, power on the laptop, and press the F9 key to boot from the DVD.

By following these steps, you should be able to obtain a recovery image and restore your HP laptop. Make sure to back up any important data before proceeding with the recovery process, as it will erase all data on the Laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
