while resetting pc on my HP Hewlett-Packard pavilion x2 its asking for a recovery key to get going again and gives me this key id 49e09cc8 what do I do to get this recovery key

On another post here you asked for assistance in removing power-on password for the PC.

This one is more tough to bypass.

This is Bitlocker.

BitLocker is a Microsoft software designed to protect the PC against offline attacks, unauthorized access typically if the PC gets stolen. BitLocker is full disk encryption software. More info:

BitLocker was activated by someone and during the PC activation time it prompts the user to save/store the key in a safe place.

 

** If this is a company owned asset/tablet, you should turn to your company's IT support guys and they should be able to provide you with the recovery key

 

** If this is your own personal device, and if you are not aware of Bitlocker key, most probably you use a slightly different BitLocker version for certain PCs and tablets known as Device encryption. Probably your key is stored in Microsoft OneDrive with your Microsoft account here :
