Hi:

Did you try creating the bootable USB recovery drive by using the HP recovery manager program?

Last item under the software specs...HP Recovery Manager (recovery partition, recovery USB/Flash unit creation tool)

If not, give that a try first.

If you can't reset your PC, you can try to clean install W8.1 by making your own plain W8.1 installation media.

Download the plain W8.1 64 bit ISO file from the link below.

Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) (microsoft.com)

Use the Microsoft tool that I zipped up and attached below that you will need to transfer the ISO file to a USB flash drive so that it is bootable.

After you create the bootable W8.1 USB installer, plug it into your 14-Z002na's USB port.

Turn on the PC, immediately tap/press the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive with W8.1 on it and press the Enter key.

The PC should boot from the W8.1 installation flash drive.

When you get to the part of the installation that asks 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.   Click Next, and W8.1 should install.

After W8.1 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Hi are you online?

the zip file what do i do with that? i have downlaoded the zip file and windows 8.1 onto my USB now what do i do?

Hi:

You need another Windows PC to run the utility I attached.

Download the zip file to the PC, right click on it and select Extract All.

Then run the setup program to install the Microsoft tool on the PC you are using.

You need to have the ISO file you downloaded onto that PC, not the USB flash drive.

The Microsoft tool will put the ISO file on the flash drive for you so that it is bootable.
