I did a system recovery which took me back to the original Windows 7? I had a free upgrade at the time of purchase to Windows 10 and I am trying to get back my Windows 10? Who/how can I do this? I am not sure how to do this as the laptop is long out of warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated here

Hope the key of Windows 10 is still in BIOS of your machine. Please use the following instruction to create a Windows 10 installation media (USB or DVD)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can use the media to install Windows 10. During the installation process if you are asked to enter a product key, check the 'Skip' box and W10 will install and then automatically activate once you are connected to the internet using the key embedded in BIOS of your machine.
Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page. Normally few Windows 10 updates can install nearly all drivers for you.
Regards.
