Hi,
I have a HP Pavilion dv6-4024tx Notebook PC. My son was trying to install Linux on that and now the operating system is crashed. I am not able to login into Windows or Linux. I have HP recovery on my laptop but I am not able to get to it. When I press F11 to go to System recovery, it takes me again to the Linux installation screen where I can see both Windows and Linux installed. When I try to go to the Windows OS, it takes me to the repair screen and I am asked for windows disc. My laptop did not come with the disc. It had the OS pre-installed.
How do I restore my laptop back to factory settings? The HP site does not have a restore disc for this laptop. Also I cannot find the restore disc available anywhere.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

i am actually wondering if the Linux install borked the hdd so it is not recognized by Windows. Watch this video on how to "clean" the drive during install to see if it appears.
If that doesn't work you will need Intel RST Driver. f6flpy.X64.zip
Read thru section 5.3 of the Read Me file

Sorry to hear about the problem. Unfortunately,I can't find Recovery Discs either. Ebay may be your best option. I have seen Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit dvd's fairly cheap there.

Thanks for the quick reply. I got a recovery ISO file from ebay. But now when I am trying to repair/install the OS, I get a message that no drivers are found and I need to get some media with drivers. Any idea how to get the drivers. I see on the HP site that there are drivers available for download. But they are all .exe files. I am not sure how to install them or apply them before loading the OS.

What type of bootable disc did you make from the ISO- dvd or usb flash drive?
What is the exact error? Perhaps - 'A Required CD-DVD Drive Device Driver is Missing'?

Not sure what type of ISO you got but I have never seen a Windows 7 dvd ask for all of the device drivers for a machine. It may ask for Intel SATA drivers. Newer laptops may even require USB 3.0 driver. There are lots of official Windows 7 dvd for sale on Ebay.
Normally it will install and any devices requiring drivers are flagged in Device Manager after Windows boots.
Without you providing exact message it is impossible to tell what you need.
You could try putting the Intel SATA driver on a usb flash drive to see if that solves it. Use 7Zip to extract the files from the .exe

Thanks for the time.
The ISO I got from Ebay was to recover my Operating system "Windows 7 Home Premium Professional Ultimate 64 bit Restore Install ISO".
I tried extracting the files from the .exe files from the HP link. But it still did not work. I have attached snapshot of the messages that I get when I am trying to restore the OS.

Read my last reply above where I assumed that you need Intel SATA driver. From your screenshots it may be correct. The SATA driver is not on that list you published as far as I can see. You will need that driver- Intel AHCI driver.
