HP ENVY x360 - 15-w002nx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have cloned my 1tb hdd to ssd with DiskGenius software and replaced with new crucial mx500 1tb ssd.

when I opened “this pc” I could see Recovery Partition and it shows 279mb free of 20gb. This was there on my hdd also. Should I delete this partition or leave it as it is taking 20gb.

@HP-X360,

If I remember correctly, the Recovery partition provides HP Recovery Manager app that you can access in Windows. It offers troubleshooting tools and let you create a recovery usb drive that will install Windows, drivers and HP software.

.

Also, you can access the recovery partition from F11 on startup to reinstall Windows if you don't have a recovery usb drive.

If you delete the Recovery partition, you'll lose those handy features.

 You can still reinstall Windows with a Windows installation usb drive from Microsoft download site.

If you really need to free up 20 GB space, maybe you can create a recovery usb drive beforehand.  Otherwise, you can leave it there.

I had cloned and installed ssd by seeing a YouTube video. When he showed This PC on his laptop, recovery partition wasn’t there so I thought may be I made some mistake.

i just want to clarify one thing that, this recovery partition is from my old hard disk, so will it work on my ssd when I reinstall windows?

You should be able to reinstall Windows on the SSD drive from the cloned Recovery partition as long as it's not corrupted.
