Hi Community,

My machine will not boot, I've given up on trying to continue to work that path at this point.

1. I have already tried downloading the recovery image to USB (changing boot order, etc) and all seems to proceed well with the reinstall of Windows (I’ve tried with both 10 and 11) until it reboots (I see the HP logo) and then I get a “Unable to determine correct OS for this system ….” reported by HP Sure Recover (2.28.1.733).

2. I’ve tried the “recovery” option from the Bios, too …  no luck (I’m going around in circles which each attempt).

3. Finally, I figured I would simply reimage the machine, and it appears that there is a Cloud recovery tool for this purpose (https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16) … however, after downloading it, my machine is not on the list of PCs for which this is an option.

The H/W is fine (I mistakenly corrupted the SSD myself) ... I "just" need to get the machine back to its factory state (which was Windows 10) .... I can take it from there, haha.

Thanks,

Tim.

Hi, Tim:

HP withdraws cloud recovery tool support for PC's that are 5 or more years old which is why the tool didn't work for you.

You have two options:

1. You can make a bootable USB installation flash drive with the Microsoft media creation tool from the link below:

Download Windows 10

After W10 has completed installing you can install the drivers and available software from the support page:

HP ENVY - 17t-ae100 CTO Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

2. Your other option would be to order a USB recovery kit from this vendor:

You need to enter your PC's product number to get the correct recovery kit.
