background: my laptop ENVY 13-ay0504na came with W10. I dual booted Fedora Workstation. I want to give the laptop to a family member. I want to clean install W11... but I am defeated!
I can't reset windows from windows, i've tried it won't work.
I can't install HP diagnostics, i've tried it fails to d/l and install...
I upgraded to W11 but it runs like soup and the partition is messed up.
I d/l W11 internationl to clean install but it's asking for drivers...
I d/l the h/w drivers from hp/support but setup isn't recognizing them...
What drivers do I need?
Thanks in advance...I am in win hell.

See if this works...
There are no storage controller drivers needed for AMD notebooks and I am at a loss to figure out the solution for clean installs when you get the no drives found error.
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.
HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Microsoft Store Apps
Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
The PC's product number is: 2S896EA#ABU

Oops - Paul beat me to it and got the Product ID.
Go the the site below and enter your full product ID.

if your system has cloud recovery available then you will need a 32gb flash drive, your Serial Number, and another computer that you have admin privilege on. It will take over an hour to create a USB that can do a factory restore.
If there is no factory recovery, then bring up the windows device manager and look for errors. Whatever device shows an error then you need to download the associated driver.
Find your drivers here. Select 10 or 11
