I simply shut down my laptop and chose shut down and update. I use Microsoft Windows. All windows and programs were properly closed prior to shut down. Upon starting the laptop much later that night the HP logo along with various messages come up like stage 1 with percentage complete. It's been days and now it says repairing disk errors this message has been on for 2 days. If I hold the off button and try to reboot it just goes back to repair messages. What should I do next or does this mean my laptop is completely inoperable?

Hi:
Turn on the PC and immediately press/tap the ESC key to get the menu of options.
Select the F2 hardware diagnostics option and test the hard drive.
If it fails any of the tests, you will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
