@Brujet, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Got it! Let’s walk through the process of installing an operating system on your HP Notebook after replacing the SSD. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

What You'll Need

  • A second working computer
  • An empty USB flash drive (at least 32 GB)
  • Internet connection

Create a Windows 10 or 11 Installation USB

To create a bootable USB for Windows 10 or 11, follow these steps:

  1. On the working computer, go to Microsoft's Windows 10 download page or Windows 11 download page.
  2. Download the Media Creation Tool.
  3. Run the tool and select "Create installation media (USB flash drive)".
  4. Choose your language, edition, and architecture (usually 64-bit).
  5. Insert your USB drive and let the tool create the bootable USB.

Boot From USB on Your HP Notebook

Now, plug the USB into your HP notebook.

  1. Turn on the laptop and immediately start pressing ESC repeatedly (about once every second) until the startup menu opens.
  2. From the Startup Menu, press F9 (Boot Device Options).
  3. Select your USB drive from the list.

Install Windows

  1. When the Windows installer loads, choose your language and preferences.
  2. Click Install Now.
  3. If prompted for a product key:
    • If your laptop originally had Windows 10/11, you can skip this step — it will activate automatically later.
  4. When you reach the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen:
    • Select the new SSD (it will show as "Drive 0").
    • Delete all partitions on that drive (if any) and create a new partition.
    • Proceed to install Windows onto it.

After Installation

  1. Once Windows finishes installing, connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. It should activate automatically and start downloading drivers.
  3. If needed, you can download drivers from the HP Support Website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
