The HP specs for your model laptop say it came with a 500GB SATA laptop drive -- but if this was mine, I would spend the extra money and get a 500GB SATA SSD. The laptop will boot much faster and run faster, as well.
Any of the standard brands will do -- Kingston, Crucial, SanDisk, Samsung.

If you want a personal recommendation for a replacement 500 GB SSD, this model has the fastest read/write speeds for the price.
I have this model SSD in several of my HP and Dell desktop and notebook PC's.
