Product: Pavilion Notebook 15-ab223cl
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Daughters laptop. Hard drived failed due to grandson dropping laptop. Need to install new one. HP does not have drives in stock (they are back ordered). Can i order one from somewhere else and install it then load/restore operating system and programs? I don't have any of the programs that came loaded on it when new.

There is a free method by which you can clean install Windows 10 64 bit in your new hard drive
Follow option 1 here: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create-bootable-usb-flash-drive-install-windows-10-a.html
This will allow you create UEFI bootable Windows 10 (build 1709) USB using Microsoft windows media creation tool from another working computer
Next in your notebook, disable secure boot from BIOS, plug in the installation USB, change boot order to USB then proceed with clean installation of Windows 10
Disable secure boot:

Clean install:

Windows will be automatically activated on installation while connected to internet
