I'm currently trying to recover an HP Pavilion Notebook – 15-ab120ng that is stuck in a boot loop following a Windows update. The system will not boot from any USB installation media, even after disabling Secure Boot and removing the internal hard drive. However, it still allows access to the BIOS setup screen and will enter BIOS Recovery Mode using the Windows + B key combination.
When BIOS Recovery is triggered, the system requests a recovery USB, which I currently do not have.
WHAT I HAVE ATTEMPTED
1. Verified that the Windows 10 USB installer works on other machines
2. Removed the internal drive to eliminate OS-related interference
3. Disabled Secure Boot and enabled Legacy Boot
4. Tested RAM modules individually
5. Attempted manual EFI boot via bootx64.efi
6. Entered BIOS Recovery Mode successfully
The installed BIOS version is F.45 Rev.A, but it is no longer available on HP’s official support page for this model. I located a copy of the installer (sp80252.exe), but it relies on a legacy driver (amifldrv64.sys) blocked by modern versions of Windows.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
I’m requesting access to the BIOS recovery files for this system — ideally a recovery USB image or the necessary EFI files (e.g., HPBIOSUPD.EFI, firmware binary, and platform.ini) that can be used to complete the BIOS reflash via recovery mode.
This system is otherwise functional, and the recovery mode is accessible. The only barrier to restoration is the absence of the BIOS files required to complete the reflash.
SYSTEM DETAILS
-Model: HP Pavilion Notebook – 15-ab120ng
-BIOS Version: F.45 Rev.A
-Issue: Boot loop, no USB boot, BIOS Recovery accessible
If an HP representative can provide them, I would greatly appreciate the support. Please reach out if you're able to help!

The latest BIOS update I could find for your notebook is F.54:
Info:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97106.html
Exe:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97106.exe
You can make a BIOS recovery flash drive using another Windows PC.
Watch these videos for how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive with the above exe file using another Windows PC:
How to make and use the BIOS recovery flash drive to recover or update the BIOS outside of Windows.

If you want BIOS F.45, here are the info and exe links to that file, but you cannot create a BIOS recovery flash drive with this file.
