HP ENVY x360 - 15m-ds0011dx

Hi, I'd like to reset our HP laptop to give or sell. I want to delete all data, including our name and any reference to our MS account or email addresses. But I want to keep Windows on it  (11 if possible.)

When finished, I'd like it to boot up to Windows desktop without asking for a password. At least for a new owner to get started, connect wifi, enter their own info.

Will  Settings>System>Recovery>Reset PC>Remove Everything  do this correctly?

Then would it or I update Windows?

"Remove Everything" seems correct from reading other threads. I'm just confirming. Hope not to reset then find it went back to DOS, or still shows us as owner.

Should I first download the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, or do anything else? (Our data is saved elsewhere, and mostly already deleted from this laptop.) I have Bitlocker recovery codes saved if needed (?)

(PS Hope I'm posting in the right area? I tried posting this question on an old thread but believe it deleted.)

Thank you.

It is much quicker to do a CLEAN install Windows using ISO file.

1. Download ISO file and save on your machine

        https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

2. Mount ISO file and run setup

        mountISO.png

3. Follow onscreen instructions and UNTICK option to keep user files and programs

4. You can run Wisdows updates after that, your machine is CLEAN now.

Regards.
