I have been stuck on the account log in screen for 3 months because it just keeps loading, is there a way I could reset at home? Or do I need to take it in?

Hi @Ava46,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • When you power on, does Windows reach the login screen and then just keep spinning/loading after you enter your password/PIN?
  • Do you see any error messages, or is it simply stuck on the loading circle?
  • Have you tried booting into Safe Mode or accessing the Advanced Startup Options?

Troubleshooting Steps You Can Try at Home

  • Hard Reset: Hold down the power button until the laptop shuts off, disconnect all peripherals, then restart.
  • Safe Mode: Try booting into Safe Mode by pressing F11 or Shift + Restart at startup. If Safe Mode works, you can create a new user account or repair system files.
  • System Restore: From Advanced Startup Options, choose Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → System Restore to roll back to a point before the issue started.
  • Startup Repair: In the same menu, run Startup Repair to fix boot/login problems.
  • Reset This PC: If nothing else works, To reset an HP system, you can use the built-in Windows recovery (Settings > Update & Security/System > Recovery > Reset this PC) for a basic reset, choosing to keep files or remove everything; (But ensure data is backed up before initiating the system reset)

I hope this helps.
