I decided to reset my computer as I didn’t like the state that it was currently in. I chose for the drive to be wiped completely meaning that it would reinstall Windows 10. After 2 1/2 hours it got stuck at 44% and here I am an hour later and it’s still stuck. Anything worth mentioning will be helpful for me. Thanks.

You didn't provide any useful details about WHY you tried to reset the PC, but this is not the miracle cure that most folks tend to believe it is -- quite the opposite -- if the drive is damaged or corrupted in any way, this is liable to leave your PC unusable.
If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024
If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu -- that will look similar to the image below ...
3) press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.
Please report back the test results.
