HP Notebook - 15-ay011nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I have a HP Notebook 15-ay011nr that has windows 10 64 bit (I think) I got it second hand from a friend and he tried to perform a reset before giving it to me. When I first tried to log on it wanted me to enter an administrator password but when I clicked to enter the pass word a black screen pops up with “hp Recovery Manager” across the top and it says Restoration Incomplete and it gives me three options to choose from 1) save log 2) details 3) retry. When I hit retry it just continuously loops back to the same screen also on the screen another window is seen with “C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe” and under that it repeats the sentence “The system cannot find the drive specified” 6 times. I’ve ran a system test but it comes back as passed with no failure IDs. I’m completely lost, and I don’t have a lot of computer knowledge so please any help is needed!

Hi @Help-Manny16

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps to re-install the operating system -

1. Shutdown the computer.
2. Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3. Press F11 once for System Recovery.
4. Choose the Keyboard Layout.
5. Click on Troubleshoot.
6. Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Recovery.
Note : Back-up all your data as System Recovery will delete everything that you had saved or installed on the computer.

If the issue still persists, try re-installing the operating system using the Media Creation Tool.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
