HP Pavilion 15-au077sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I have a HP Pavilion which is approx 2 years old (from purchase), I've been receiving the below message every time I switch my laptop on since November.  I've recently been told that I'm lucky the laptop hasn't crashed by now & I just need to replace the SSD hard drive.  I've also been told that reinstalling Windows would solve the problem, someone else also advised that removing Kasperksy would also help.  So I'm not sure the best route to take.

Along with the beow message the startup screen has also started showing very colourful lines, these disappear within a few seconds & the laptop is fully useable.

I know next to nothing about IT stuff, any help as to what I should actually do is gratefully received!  If I do need to replace the 256 GB SSD then what should I buy & do I need to upgrade to a 500GB or1TB?

Or will reinstalling Windows solve the problem?

Many thanks for your help!

Sam

@SamTPG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting a hard drive error on startup.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you run a test on the hard drive following the steps in the below article to make sure whether it is software or a hardware issue.

If the hard drive test pass, then follow the steps in the below article.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
