Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Symptoms:
f-keys for brightens don't change brightens and instead a small rectangular window pops up. The window will pop up as many times as the key is pressed.
Explanation:
The drier that is causing the issue is HP LAN/WLAN/WWAN Switching and Hotkey Service. It can be found in device manager under Software components.
The version on the HP site is broken (Release date: Jul 5, 2022).
Solution:
Go to the aforementioned drivers properties and click on it. This bring up properties. Switch the tab from "General" to "Driver and click on roll back.
The driver that works is form 10.10.2022
I found this really hard to fix on my own, so hope it helps.
Cheers!
