1040 G2
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Dear HP Comunity,

I own an HP Folio 1040 G2 Notebook and the HP 2013 Slim docking station. I bought recently a new Display (Dell S2716DG) and I am trying to connect it to the docking station. However I am unable to get it working even after two days of trying everything I found on the internet related to this topic.

I found information, that I should update the firmware of the Docking station. However this does not give me too much sense as one of the steps is to connect the Monitor to the Display port and Enable it. But how when that is the issue I am trying to resolve here with the firmware update?

I tried all Firmware versions I found on the internet: SP65034,  SP69276,  SP75855.  None of them has however worked.

I am getting a message "Can not find Synaptics MST DP hub IC" or  "Faild to find  Synaptics MST DP hub IC"  depending on which firmware I try.

I have a fully up to date Notebook Bios + Display drivers and I also tried to install those again, just in case.

So what is trick to get the Dell monitor working via the Displayport, please? Some users are reporting success but I could not really get out the final solution of the problem.

Thanks in advance.

I managed to update the Docking station firmware. The solution in my case was to use an DP to VGA adapter and connect an old VGA display instead of directly connecting the new DP only display.

I have the same issue w/ my G3 trying to connect my Dell monitors. I updated everything, but still not working. Did you ever resolved the problem? If so, what did you do? HELP! Thanks...

HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking Station DP Sync - Failed to find SynapticsMST DP Hub IC

Yepper.  The issue is the firmware and you'll want to do just what KaKoKo recommends. His note may require a bit of unpacking:

  1. The update is physically made to the docking station Synapics EPROM chip.  I updated  with SP79015 which is listed here but just google for the download.  The version I used was v2.33 ~date 1/30/2107
  2. Use an old VGA monitor Connect it to the docking station to updated.  I used a VGA 2 DP adapter to connect.  I'm not sure if I could have connected to the VGA port instead of the DP port.  Worth a try if you don't own an adapter.
  3. As the Monitor is found, you'll be presented with a BIOS-like update dialog detailing currect and proposed updates.
  4. Click update.  When complete unplug and then replug the docking station to cycle changes
