Hi @DYLONDOG,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're stoked to have you on board!

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share the model name of your device?

Need help finding your product number? We've got you covered! Check out this handy guide:

https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/ish_2039298-1862169-16

Could you please confirm if you’re seeing any error codes or messages on the screen when it says “Unable to boot”? That will help narrow down the cause.

In the meantime, please follow these steps to perform a hard reset, this clears residual power and helps the system reinitialize hardware:

Perform a hard reset

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove any memory cards from the card reader slot.
  • Disconnect all nonessential devices (printers, scanners, external drives, USB flash drives).
Do not disconnect your mouse, keyboard, or monitor.
  • With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.

If the computer does not turn on, it may not be receiving power and might need a repair.

If the computer turns on but doesn’t boot, run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Press Esc > F2 at startup and perform the Fast Test followed by the Extensive Test.
  • Note down any Failure ID (24‑digit code) if a component fails.
  • Please refer to this link for assistance in running the test

Reset the computer when Windows does not start normally

  • Use Windows Recovery Environment to reset the system when Windows does not start normally.
  • Choose a method to open Windows Recovery Environment.
  • Restart your computer, and then immediately press the f11 key repeatedly.
  • Click Start. Press and hold the shift key, click Power, and then select Restart while holding the shift key. Continue holding the shift key while the computer restarts.
  • On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot.

Selecting Troubleshoot in the Windows Recovery Environment

  • On the Troubleshoot screen, select Reset this PC.

Selecting Reset this PC to start the reset process

  • Follow the instructions to reset your computer. This might take a few minutes.

Please refer to the following document for further assistance:

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
