HP Notebook
I own a windows 10 HP laptop. Today when I booted it it said "Scanning and repairing drive (C:): 0% complete. I had seen this before so I let it go on for a bit and just turning it off usually seemed to work, so I did so.
I turned it on again and it said that it was Preparing Automatic Repair. After it said Diagnosing your PC, and then it said Repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete, and though I've waited, it seems to make no progress.
I have no other laptop that I can use, and whenever I turn it off, it changes to "Scanning and repairing drive" and doing so again changes it to "Repairing disk errors", putting it in an endless loop.
Any suggestions on what to do? Thank you!

Short dst: Fail =  the hard drive has failed/is failing and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will replace it. If not a retail 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive can be used-Western Digital,Seagate,Toshiba, etc

Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use HP Recovery Media to install Windows. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

If you need more help selecting/replacing the hdd post back with full Model & Product Number as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop.

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.
