Pavilion dv6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7. It has been formated before some years and the recovery partition got deleted. Now I want to reinstall my operating system, because I have some issues with activation of Windows and it runs very slow by the time, but my product key label is scratched off. Can I have a new product key or there is any different way to activate my Windows after reinstall my operating system?

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome !

You may purchase Windows 7 recovery media (HP Recovery media) which can be used to reinstall Windows and turn the PC to factory default condition. It will not require you entering the Windows 7 COE sticker key.

You will need your product number (PN) --> how to find it > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

Then you can visit

http://www.best2serve.com/page/rcd_landing  (EU/EMEA region)

OR (US,AMS)   http://www.computersurgeons.com/

to see if they can offer you such recovery media

You can purchase it.

You can boot from the recovery media

Hello  psaxno,

You may try to order  USB-Windows 7 64-bit Recovery Kit from the below link.

This is not exact model of your PC, But for HP Pavilion Entertainment Notebook PC Series.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/mediaorder/HP-Pavilion-dv6-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5191856/mode...

The original OEM or the recovery media should not ask you for Product Key.

You would have to purchase recovery media from other sources, is HP has stopped providing for this model.

Is there any way to download it as an iso and burn it on a DVD free of charge?

HP Recommended

No, unfortunately not. This is due to Microsoft requirement (not because of HP wish).

You have (had) OEM type of Windows.

Microsoft offers downloads from their site but they are for another type of license (FPP).

You will need to purchase the recovery disk - costs about 27 USD / 33 British pounds.
