HP Pavilion Notebook Model 3165NGW Product#X0s48UA
Message on the screen:
SMART hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. to ensure not data loss, please back up the content immediately and run the hard disk drive test in System diagnostics
Hard Disc Error 1 (301)
Try to get to start up message says Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Seris v1.38 (06/16/15)
Media test failure, check cable
PXE-MF Exiting PXE ROM
No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key
I insert the boot disc get the same message over and over
I do a quick hard drive test: Message No hard Drive installed check power and data cables are connected
Do I need to get a new hard drive? If I do does that mean I have lost everything on my laptop. Any suggestions? I work from home and I need my laptop so I can work.
Thank you in advance for your ideas.

Unfortunately, it seems the hard drive had failed. The SMART warning tries to give the user a warning but it seems it was too late. You can try the diagnostic tests to verify that.
Before starting the bootup process, start tapping the Esc key. Then press the start. Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows, then pick F2 to run the diagnostics. It will give the results for the hard drive, report that finding back here.
