Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello . Installed  windows 8.1. It seems all is well, I installed Kaspersky Anti-Virus, but then I decided to check the update of Windows, but it has been looking for a very long time. I turned off the antivirus, I turned on the firewall, but still I’m not looking for updates, I’ve already done the diagnostics . What to do ? I read a lot of articles on the Internet, but decided to ask you. Thank .

There are not a full set of HP Software and Drivers for Windows 8.1 - for example, there is no BIOS update available.

There are some drivers in the list.  If you have not done so, you might check the Details on potential updates and update the drivers that are available.

If you install any updates, even if the system does not require a Restart, please do Restart the computer and log in.

After you have installed whatever drivers can be updated, try your Windows Updates again.

Except for the missing BIOS (not available for your machine running Windows 8.1), you have confirmed that the available updates have been installed.

In my opinion, there is not much else you can do from the "HP" side.

Suggestion:

Check with Microsoft and search for articles related to "Stuck Windows Updates" (use your own keywords to best describe what you seek).

Example - one of thousands of articles on the subject:

How to Fix Windows Update When It Gets Stuck or Frozen

IF you "upgraded" / migrated to Windows 8.1 as opposed to installing a clean install of the Operating System, know that what you have now is a Windows-best-guess combination of the old and new Windows versions.  This means that although Windows has indeed "migrated" the OS to the newer version, the underlying infrastructure is not "all" Windows 8.1 OS.  For most people, this doesn't matter.  If you continue to experience odd problems, at some point you might consider a clean install of the Operating System version you intend to run on the computer.

IF the problem ends up being the lack of a BIOS update, there is naught (nothing) to be done.

My money, were I forced to wager on the outcome, would be that the missing BIOS for this version of Windows is going to come back and bite your machine - if not now, then at some point down the road.  This is NOT a prediction; simply an unsolicited personal opinion.

If you're looking for Windows Updates for Windows 8x, then quit looking!

Microsoft dropped support for Win8x some time back -- so there will be no Windows Updates for it.

I did not realize that.  I have not had a Windows 8.x machine for a while now.

From the articles I found, I inferred that Windows Updates are still available for this older OS.

It appears I was wrong about that.  :Surprise:

Thanks for the input.
