Hello! I want to enable secure boot. If I disable legacy mode, the secure boot option is still grayed out(I restarted the PC to save the changes in BIOS). Every answer to this problem is "Load HP factory default keys". I want to know 100% what "Load HP factory default keys" means, to be sure this option will not affect my computer(especially the operating system) and I want to know if it is safe to select this option. And also I want to know if the "Load HP factory default keys" option will guarantee that I can enable secure boot.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue, a BIOS update that allows the use of Secure Boot may be available. For more information, see Updating the BIOS. After you have updated to a BIOS version that supports Secure Boot, go to Enabling Secure Boot.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

But even if I update the BIOS and then the secure boot option is still grayed out, what to do next? Every tutorial regarding the secure boot on HP devices tells me to click on the "Load HP factory default keys" option. What exactly does this option? Do I risk losing all my OS data or damaging the computer?
Edited: I checked in the HP Support Assistant app and there is no update for BIOS available. So the remaining option is Load HP factory default keys?
Thank you for your time and patience!

Thank you for posting back.
The last thing I can suggest try and restore the OS back to the factory default, which will isolate whether it’s a software or hardware issue. The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
