Microsoft Windows 11

Every time I enabled Secure Boot and started up my laptop, it was still disabled, I tried disabling fast boot, loading up the keys, still kept staying disabled. I'm fresh out of ideas.

Hi @tamav,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's Secure Boot won't stay enabled, there could be several reasons for this issue. Secure Boot is a feature that helps protect your system from unauthorized software and malware during the boot process. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

  • Check BIOS/UEFI Settings: Secure Boot is usually controlled through the BIOS or UEFI firmware settings. To access these settings, restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, F12, or Del) during the boot process to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup. Look for the Secure Boot option and make sure it is enabled. Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
  • Disable Legacy Boot: Secure Boot may conflict with the Legacy Boot (CSM) feature. Make sure Legacy Boot is disabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings. This will ensure that the system prioritizes Secure Boot during the boot process.
  • Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware: Outdated firmware could cause compatibility issues with Secure Boot. Visit HP's official website, enter your laptop's model number, and check for the latest BIOS/UEFI updates. If an update is available, follow the instructions provided to update your system's firmware.
  • Reset BIOS/UEFI to Defaults: Sometimes, incorrect settings in the BIOS can lead to issues with Secure Boot. Try resetting the BIOS/UEFI settings to their defaults and then enable Secure Boot again.
  • Check for Secure Boot Violations: Some laptops disable Secure Boot automatically if there are any security violations or unauthorized changes to the boot process. Check for any error messages or logs related to Secure Boot violations and resolve them if possible.
  • Disable Fast Boot: Fast Boot is another feature that can sometimes interfere with Secure Boot. Disable Fast Boot in the BIOS/UEFI settings and then try enabling Secure Boot again.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: In rare cases, hardware-related issues can cause problems with Secure Boot.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
