I have an HP Laptop model 17-bs049dx. The hard drive was replaced a few years ago, but the new hard drive didn't have a recovery sector. On reboot, the system gets stuck in "Preparing Automatic Recovery." Without the recovery sector it doesn't do anything. If I try system recovery with F11, it'll get stuck on "Please Wait."
If I use F2 to check the Hardware diagnostics UFEI, the memory quick check passes, the hard drive smart check, and quick DST passes, and it's during the extensive hard drive Long DST check, it says there's an error,
Failure ID: RQ9KOK-93SC6K-GXGJ21-619703
From other similar posts, I am guessing there's a problem that indicates I should replace the hard drive.
If I replace the hard drive, I'll need a set of recovery discs, but the serial number isn't valid on HP.com. It's printed on the machine, and I get the same information when I go into the F1 boot info. I've tried 0's, O's, B's, and 8'S, but no variation works. The HP support prevents me from getting past that part of the page. I don't know if I still have the Discs from when the hard drive was replaced.
I've tried the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, but it doesn't recognize the Product ID "2PE35UA#ABA".
It's well past warranty, but I'd like to know the cost for Discs or USB of the ISO to get the system operational again.
Thanks,

I'm thinking that HP quit supporting models over a certain age limit with the cloud recovery tool, because your notebook used to be supported by it.
Maybe they have a 5- or 6-year age limit?
I'm seeing a lot of that going on.
You have two options:
The W10 product key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS, so you can reinstall W10 for free by making a bootable W10 installation flash drive with the media creation tool:
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page:

If there is a reason you want or need the original HP factory image, the only place I know of where you can buy a recovery kit would be from this vendor:
I recommend you replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).
