Hello,

I am writing to request technical assistance with my HP G62 laptop.

The device is experiencing the following issues:

The BIOS seems to be corrupted

The laptop turns on and off continuously

The screen remains completely black

The HP logo or any other image does not appear

I cannot access the BIOS or the operating system

I have already tried searching for the correct BIOS file on the HP website to restore it via USB drive, but I could not find any file compatible with the HP G62 model.

I would like to know:

Where I can obtain the official BIOS file for recovery

If there is a proper BIOS recovery procedure for this model

Or if authorized technical assistance will be required

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Lassimon01

Hi:

Unfortunately, the only way to run the BIOS files in your notebook is through Windows.

There is no way to make a BIOS USB recovery flash drive with the file.

If you need to recover the BIOS you will have to take the PC to a local repair shop that has the tools/software to reflash the BIOS if it is not too expensive.

I can give you the latest BIOS update HP released for your notebook but I will need to know the full model number or product number of your notebook.

Hello,

I am reaching out to request technical assistance with my HP G62-a10EP laptop.

The device is experiencing the following issues:

  • The BIOS appears to be corrupted

  • The laptop keeps turning on and off continuously

  • The screen remains completely black

  • The HP logo or any display does not appear

  • I cannot access the BIOS or the operating system

I have already tried to find the correct BIOS file on the HP website to restore it via USB, but I could not find any compatible file for the HP G62-a10EP model.

I would like to recover the BIOS at home, even if it involves some risk, and therefore need assistance from HP. I am requesting:

  • The latest official BIOS file for my model (Product: WW011EA#AB9, Serial: 4CZ0222L70)

  • Clear instructions on how to reinstall the BIOS without access to Windows

Thank you very much for your help.

You're very welcome.

As I indicated in my first reply, all of the BIOS updates for that model are exe files and you cannot make a USB recovery drive with the file.

Below are the info and exe file links to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook (F.48):

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55430.html

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55430.exe

Perhaps you can take this file to a local PC repair shop and see if they can do anything with it, but for inexperienced  folks like you or me without the right BIOS tools and re-flashing software, it is impossible to recover the BIOS with that file.

Sorry, but I can't give you instructions that do not exist.

You will need to find someone that is fully experienced with that kind of problem.

Hello,

I already have a BIOS programming tool for my HP G62.
I would like to know if HP could provide detailed instructions or guidance on how to use the official BIOS file (SP55430) with this tool to safely recover my laptop’s BIOS.

I do not have advanced experience with BIOS flashing, so any official guidance or support would be very valuable to help me perform the procedure correctly at home.

Thank you for your attention,

This is a peer to peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP.

You would have to contact HP customer support for a question like that starting at the link below and you will be charged for any help because your notebook has been out of warranty for ages.

Personally, I think you should just replace the system board which would probably cost less than paying HP for something I doubt they will be able to help you with.

You can probably find one inexpensively on eBay.

Good luck,
