I'm setting up my laptop for the first time. I get stuck setting up email. When I try to link Windows 10 Mail with **bleep** I get the following error: 0x80070490.
Also the Windows search won't search the Web.
So far everything else seems ok.
I've found guidance that says to reinstall Windows 10, but if I do that, won't I lose the laptop specific apps and settings?

You can re-install Windows 10 using
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
And remember to TICK option to keep all user programs and data (this is the default option but to be sure is to be sure).
Regards.
