Hi my laptop is running slow so i decided to try it myself to repair and do a factory reset. But it won't work. I followed a few YouTube videos and im now at a screen that says 'SMART CHECK - PASSED'& ' SHORT DST - FAILED' with a failure ID and Product ID.
I have tried to speak to support but I am British living in Spain (i do not speak anywhere near enough Spanish to help me get this resolved) and the UK/Ireland support page cannot help me and insist I speak to the Spanish support team although my laptop was purchased in the UK.
Is there anyone out there who can help me resolve this without spending a fortune going to the local repair shop. I'm hoping its a simple fix.

Here is the spec page for that laptop - HP Pavilion x360 - 15-br018na
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05536256
It indicates the hard drive is a 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA which is pretty common for an older laptop.
The symptoms indicated in the post - "running slow " is a sign of a failing hard drive, as is the "SHORT DST - FAILED"
The SMART pass indicates the drive has not failed yet, but it would be wise to quite using the laptop, as every minute it is used could be its last. Next thing to consider is the data on the drive. If you have anything of importance or value to you on the drive - IE: documents, photos, etc - then there is a good chance they will be lost, assuming they are not backed up somewhere else.
The drive needs to be removed/replaced and then Windows needs to be reinstalled.
Here is the manual for that PC.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05473330.pdf
page 31 and following shows where the drive is located and how to replace it.
This is a listing for the exact drive
https://www.cpumedics.com/hp-762888-859-1tb-5-4k-rpm-sata-7mm-2-5-hard-drive/
However, most any 2.5" SATA drive will work. Since shopping in Spain might be a problem, I will let you decide on how to do that replacement.
That PC is covered under the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, which provides Windows and driver reload tools.

Once the new drive is in place and the laptop is working, if there is a need to try a recovery of any data on the old drive, come back for some tips on how to try that. Like I said before, quit using the laptop, then I can help you try to recover any data, later.
I'm not an HP employee.
