Hi @3FO12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Check Boot Order and BIOS Settings

The boot order in the BIOS determines which device the laptop tries to boot from first.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it back on and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  • Press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup.
  • Navigate to the Boot section using arrow keys.
  • Ensure the hard drive is set as the first boot device. If it's not, change the boot order so that the hard drive is the first device.
  • Press F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS.

Perform Hard Disk Test

If the BIOS setup has the correct boot order, the next step is to check the health of the hard drive.

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it back on and immediately press Esc key repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
  • Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Select Component Tests.
  • Choose Hard Drive Tests and run the Quick Test. If the quick test passes, run the Extensive Test.

Sometimes, loose or faulty connections can cause boot problems.

  • Ensure the laptop is completely powered off and unplugged.
  • If you're comfortable with opening the laptop, remove the back panel to access the hard drive.
  • Carefully disconnect and reconnect the hard drive to ensure it’s securely connected.

If the hard drive is healthy, you may need to reinstall or repair the operating system.

Using Windows Recovery Options:

  • Use another computer to download the Windows 11 Installation Media and create an installation USB drive.
  • Insert the USB drive into your HP laptop.
  • Power on the laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
  • Press F9 to open the Boot Device Options.
  • Select the USB drive from the list and press Enter.
  • Select Repair your computer from the Windows setup screen.
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to repair your OS.

Reinstall Windows:

  1. Follow the Windows Installation Guide from the USB:
    • If repair options do not work, reinstall Windows 11 using the USB installation media.
    • Select Install now and follow the prompts to complete the installation process.

I hope this helps.
