Slow/Sluggish performance. Less than a year old.
Product number: 7H9Y1UA#ABA.
Windows 11 Home 64-bit Version: 22621.3296
13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1355U
16G RAM
I first noticed that during any video call (Zoom and Teams) that frequently (about every 60-90 seconds) the video would freeze for about 5-7 seconds. The audio, during the freezing, was just about non-intelligible. My Internet speed is 75 Mbps. I also have the same problem at my brother-in-law's house. I don't have the issue, at either location, with a Win10 (Lenovo), MacBook Pro, and I even broke out an old Win7 laptop (HP). Per other posts that I have read, I updated every single driver, firmware, etc. I removed/disabled all virus apps/plug-ins/etc. Still same problem. I reset the laptop back to factory defaults, updated all drivers/firmware again, loaded only Zoom, and still have the problem. I ran all diagnostics and they don't report any issues with anything. I am now noticing that, periodically, when I type (doesn't matter where) the response of the letters to show on the screen is considerably lagging (i.e. it just happened when I was typing in the Search box in the task bar). Has anyone else come across this problem or have any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hi @SlowRM ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've already gone through several troubleshooting steps, but there are still a few things you could try to improve the performance of your HP ENVY x360:
- Check for Background Processes: Make sure there aren't any unnecessary programs running in the background that could be hogging system resources. You can use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for this.
- Disk Cleanup: Perform a disk cleanup to remove temporary files and free up disk space. You can do this by searching for "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu and running the tool.
- Check for Malware: Even though you've disabled antivirus programs, it's still a good idea to run a thorough malware scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program.
- Adjust Power Settings: Sometimes, power settings can affect performance. Make sure your power plan is set to High Performance. You can adjust this in the Control Panel under Power Options.
- Update BIOS: Make sure your laptop's BIOS is up to date. You can usually find BIOS updates on the HP support website for your specific model.
- Check for System Errors: Use the Windows Event Viewer to check for any system errors or warnings that could indicate underlying issues.
- Hardware Diagnostics: While you mentioned running diagnostics, it might be worth running more comprehensive hardware tests, especially focusing on components like the hard drive and memory.
- Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your system is fully up to date with the latest Windows updates, as these can sometimes include performance improvements and bug fixes.
