Hi @Vaccine,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing that diagnostic output. Seeing “SMART CHECK: NOT INSTALLED” and “LONG DST: NOT INSTALLED” in the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool can be confusing, especially when you're trying to check your notebook's health.

What These Messages Mean

  • SMART CHECK: NOT INSTALLED
This means your system either doesn’t support SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology), or the diagnostics tool couldn’t detect the SSD/HDD properly. SMART is typically used to monitor hard drive health.
  • LONG DST: NOT INSTALLED
DST stands for Drive Self-Test. This message usually appears when:
    • The drive is an NVMe SSD, which may not support traditional DST.
    • The diagnostic tool version is outdated or not compatible with your storage device.
    • The SSD is not being detected properly due to hardware or firmware issues.

Recommended Steps to Proceed

1. Update HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

You may be using an older version (v1.6.0.0). HP recommends updating to the latest version to ensure full compatibility with modern SSDs.

2. Check SSD Detection in BIOS

  • Restart your notebook and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Go to Storage Configuration or System Information.
  • Confirm if the SSD is listed.

If it’s missing, the SSD may be disconnected, failed, or experiencing firmware issues.

3. Run Windows-Based Diagnostics

If UEFI diagnostics aren’t working, try using HP Support Assistant in Windows:

  • Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.
  • Go to My Devices > Diagnostics & Tools.
  • Run the Storage Test from within Windows.

4. Backup Your Data

If your SSD is showing signs of failure or isn’t detected, back up your data immediately to avoid loss.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
