I haven’t used my notebook for over a year I turned it on and it says account recovery. I decided to just factory reset but it’s in software installation Mode. It’s restarted a few times but iS it normal that it’s been in software institutions over 30 minutes now ?

Sorry, no real way to know -- as a factory reset erases, reformats, and rewrites the entire drive and that can take a long time, sometimes several hours.  Plus, it's generally a bad idea to do one because if there are any faults at all with the PC or drive, it can fail and leave your PC in a corrupted state.

The account recovery message was an indication of file system failure, and that is the same filesystem that holds the recovery information -- so if that is corrupted as well, your reset will eventually fail.

You will have to wait it out and see.
