Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was curious. Why does HP set windows 10 scaling to 125% for default? Why not the recommended 150% scaling by Windows 10? When I received my new custom build. It is set to 125% by default.

Hello @FattysGoneWild,

The Windows 10 Recommended scaling is not set by HP and OEMs. It's set by Windows.

What I've deduced from usage of various devices and monitors is that the recommended scaling is determined by the size of the display and the resolution you've set.

For example, on my 4K HP Spectre x360, the recommended scaling is 300% but if I change the resolution, the recommended scaling changes.

The size also matters as my 1080p monitor and 1080p laptop have different recommended scaling.

You can learn more about Windows 10 scaling here.

Hope that helps.
